1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how VolumeM8 - Volume Control ("VolumeM8", the "Extension", "we", "us", or "our") handles information when you install or use the Extension.

VolumeM8 is a local-first Chrome extension that lets you adjust and enhance audio from a browser tab. Its core operation takes place on your device. VolumeM8 does not require an account and does not include advertising, analytics, tracking pixels, telemetry, or a developer-operated backend service.

The short version is:

• tab audio is processed live on your device and is not recorded, stored, or uploaded by VolumeM8;
• settings, saved website profiles, recent-tab details, and temporary control state are stored in Chrome extension storage on your device;
• VolumeM8 does not sell personal information or use it for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, or unrelated purposes; and
• you can clear saved website profiles, clear the Extension's data through Chrome, or uninstall VolumeM8 at any time.

This policy applies only to VolumeM8. It does not govern Chrome, the Chrome Web Store, the websites whose audio you choose to control, or other third-party products and services.

2. Information VolumeM8 handles

VolumeM8 handles only the information needed to provide its visible audio-control features.

2.1 Live tab audio

When you deliberately activate VolumeM8 for a regular website tab, Chrome provides a live audio stream from that tab. VolumeM8 processes the stream locally using the browser's Web Audio features to apply volume changes, equalisation, compression, loudness balancing, bass or presence adjustments, and limiting.

VolumeM8:

• does not record tab audio;
• does not convert audio to text;
• does not analyse audio to identify a person, song, programme, or subject;
• does not retain audio after processing; and
