FocusM8 is a local-first Chrome extension that helps users concentrate by running timed focus sessions and temporarily blocking user-selected distracting websites. This Privacy Policy explains what information FocusM8 handles and how that information is used.
FocusM8 does not collect, transmit, sell, rent, or share personal information. The extension does not require an account and does not use analytics, advertising, tracking pixels, remote servers, or third-party data services.
All settings and focus statistics used by the extension are stored locally on the user's device through Chrome's extension storage system.
FocusM8 stores the following information locally:
This information is used only to provide the extension's timer, website-blocking, notification, and local statistics features.
FocusM8 does not collect browsing history, page content, search queries, form entries, passwords, financial information, health information, precise location, communications, or personal identifiers.
While a focus session is active, FocusM8 applies local Chrome request-blocking rules to the website hostnames on the user's blocked-sites list. When the user attempts to open one of those websites, Chrome redirects the main page request to a local FocusM8 reminder page.
FocusM8 does not read the contents of websites, monitor activity on allowed websites, inject scripts into webpages, record browsing history, or transmit visited URLs. Website access is used solely to enforce the blocked-sites list selected by the user.
FocusM8 stores its settings and statistics using chrome.storage.local. The data remains within the user's Chrome profile on the device unless the user removes it, clears the extension's stored data, resets the browser profile, or uninstalls the extension.
