DownloadM8 is a local-first Chrome download manager. DownloadM8 does not sell, transmit, or share personal information with its developer, advertisers, analytics providers, data brokers, or other third parties.

Information handled by DownloadM8

DownloadM8 accesses Chrome’s download records to provide its download-management features. These records may contain:

• Downloaded filenames
• Source and final download URLs
• Source website hostnames
• Download progress and status
• File size and save location
• Start and completion times
• Chrome download errors
• Whether an interrupted download can be resumed

This information is processed locally within the extension and is not transmitted to the developer or an external service.

DownloadM8 stores the following preferences locally using chrome.storage.local:

• Whether Chrome should ask where to save files
• Duplicate-filename handling
• Completion and failure notification preferences
• Automatic retry limits
• Light, dark, or system appearance
• Comfortable or compact row density
