1. Overview

ClipM8 is a local-first Chrome extension for saving web pages, extracting readable articles, clipping selected text, capturing full-page screenshots, highlighting passages, adding notes, organising saved material, searching a personal library, producing optional summaries, and importing or exporting clips.

This Privacy Policy explains what information ClipM8 handles, why it handles that information, where the information is stored, when information may leave the user’s device, the choices available to users, and the limits of ClipM8’s security and control.

ClipM8 does not require a ClipM8 account. ClipM8 does not operate an application backend, advertising platform, analytics service, behavioural-profiling service, or developer-controlled cloud database. The ClipM8 developer does not receive copies of users’ clips, screenshots, highlights, notes, imported files, library contents, or browsing history through the extension’s current functionality.

In this policy, “ClipM8,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to the developer and operator of the ClipM8 extension. “User,” “you,” and “your” refer to a person who installs or uses ClipM8.

2. Scope

This policy applies to information handled by the ClipM8 Chrome extension, including its toolbar popup, content scripts, background service worker, library, import and export tools, screenshot feature, optional Chrome Sync feature, summary feature, and locally generated sharing tools.

This policy does not govern:

• websites that you visit or clip;
• Google Chrome, Chrome Sync, or the Chrome Web Store;
• image hosts, content delivery networks, or other resources referenced by a saved web page;
• applications, messaging services, storage providers, or websites through which you choose to send, upload, publish, or host an exported clip or share file; or
• third-party products whose export files you choose to import into ClipM8.

Those services operate under their own terms and privacy policies.

3. ClipM8’s single purpose

ClipM8’s single purpose is to let users capture, highlight, organise, search, read, summarise, recover, import, export, and share information from web pages.

ClipM8 handles website content and related information only to provide these user-facing clipping and library features. ClipM8 does not use website content or browsing activity for advertising, marketing profiles, credit decisions, insurance decisions, employment decisions, unrelated analytics, or sale to data brokers.
